Colourhaus was founded by Matthew Ramsden who grew up in Harrogate and went to Harrogate Grammar School.
He became a painter and decorator and worked on jobs with his uncle from the age of 20, before going onto spray-painting uPVC windows.
He then saw a gap in the market using his skills and for kitchen overhauls, and so went about setting up Colourhaus that specialises in spray-painting.
As well as overhauling many Harrogate homes, he has also worked with commercial clients including Mojo bar, The Ivy Harrogate and Haks Little Royal Baths Chinese Restaurant.
Colourhaus is a one-stop shop for kitchen overhauls.
Too often people think they need to buy a new kitchen, when actually they can renew the existing one they already have, rather than replacing it.
Indeed, the team at Colourhaus not only works on the aesthetic of the kitchen, but it also carries out repairs to a kitchen to make it more functional and like new.
Matt even details how some of his clients have had a “relatively new kitchen that might only be three or four years old” where the units have a plastic wrap on them that is peeling, and the team can remove this. They then spray the wood that's underneath, giving the appearance of a brand-new kitchen but without more cost.
After the repairs, it’s down to the fun part where the units are spray painted in whichever colour you would like – if you have an exact colour in mind from a piece of furniture you already have at home for example, Matt can capture it as he has a spectrophotometer that provides high-accuracy colour readings which he can then match.
Meanwhile the worktop and tiles can be transformed with a granite spray of which there are 52 colours to choose from, creating a textured seamless heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, low-maintenance surface and backsplach.
The whole room can also be painted – Matt details:
It makes sense to do everything at once and we offer cost-effective options for this.
Matt says that he has seen a big increase in greens.
Prior to this it was greys, but he has since noticed that people are opting for more colourful kitchens.
I’ve specifically seen a request for Green Smoke and Calke Green, both by Farrow & Ball, while Little Greene and Lick green paint colours are also popular.
The company uses the latest paint technologies and techniques using environmentally-friendly acrylic water-based paint with no solvents to deliver a lasting quality paint finish and offers a five-year guarantee for the works.
Matt can give an approximate quote from some initial photos, and then if you wish to proceed, he can come out and look at the space.
The team at Colourhaus aims to get the job completed in a working week, from Monday to Friday, with repairs completed and the doors of the units taken off on the Monday where they are taken to the workshop and cleaned, prepped, primed and then sprayed with two topcoats of the colour and left to dry.
The rest of the kitchen goes through the same process in situ while the spray granite is also completed within the week.
Mrs Sarah Jackson said of her large kitchen that was updated by the team:
Just had our kitchen resprayed by the team at Colourhaus, all coordinated by Matt. Absolutely thrilled with it!
"It’s like a new kitchen, I’m staggered by how good it looks. Great communication at all times.
"The team worked incredibly hard at our house, keeping us informed at all times, turning up when they said they would and being friendly and good company to have around. I will definitely be recommending them.
