The land agent behind plans to build 1,100 homes in Killinghall has invited people to have their say as it prepares to submit a formal planning application.
Hallam Land is expected to submit plans to North Yorkshire Council in November.
The scale of the development, which would require almost as much land as the entire 200-acre Stray in Harrogate, has alarmed some people.
There have also been concerns about community facilities, and Hallam Land attempted to provide reassurance in a statement today (October 23).
The firm said it was distributing leaflets to homes in the area and was keen to hear views.
Adam Masters, senior land and planning manager at the firm, said:
We know people want to see community infrastructure delivered alongside new homes.
That is why the significant number of affordable homes will be delivered alongside community infrastructure such as land for a new primary school, if required, a local centre and ancillary retail uses, employment space, and improved cycling, walking and bus connections.
We are particularly keen to gather suggestions on uses for the local centre to help ensure this space responds to local needs. We encourage local people to have their say to help inform the emerging vision for this proposal.

Hallam Land said around 40 per cent of the site would be retained as green or open space, incorporating landscaping, biodiversity enhancements, recreational areas and sustainable drainage.
The proposals would also include new walking, cycling and bus connections intended to improve access to and around the development.
Leaflets are being distributed to homes in the surrounding area, inviting residents to contribute their views as the plans are developed ahead of the formal planning application.
