North Yorkshire Council has advertised a £200,000 contract for bath sheets and robes at Harrogate’s Turkish Baths.

The contract seeks market information on the supply of bath and spa linen at the Victorian venue on Parliament Street.

According to the government’s contract portal, the council is seeking information on potential suppliers to help draw up a future tender process.

The contract would include market information on “high quality bath sheets and durable cotton-blend bathrobes and treatment linen”.

It added:

The supplies are for use in a premium spa environment (Turkish Baths Harrogate) and must withstand rigorous commercial laundering while maintaining their feel, colour integrity, and functional performance.

The objective of this RFI is to gauge market capability, assess potential suppliers' product quality, technical specifications, sustainability credentials, and expertise in managing textile supply for a high-end spa facility.

The information gathered will be used to refine the final tender specification and determine a realistic whole-life cost model for the supplies.

The contract would start in August next year and is expected to run for three years.

The move comes as the council took control of the Turkish Baths in April 2023 after the former Harrogate Borough Council was abolished.
