A £231,000 plan to replace a roof at Ripon Community Hospital has been submitted.
The proposal, which has been tabled by NHS Property Services Ltd, would see the works take place at the Martindale building at the hospital on Firby Lane.
The plan includes removal and replacement of roof tiles, as well as an insulation upgrade.
The hospital, which is managed by Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, currently offers x-ray services, wards and a minor injuries unit.
The Martindale building and the state of the roof from the inside of the site.
In documents submitted to North Yorkshire Council, the NHS said the work is required as the roof is in a poor state.
It said:
The proposed works are required to allow for the replacement of the current slate roof covering with new as the existing roof is severely dilapidated and causing significant water ingress internally, to the extent the top floor rooms are unable to be used.
The plans added that the roof has “reached the end of its life” and the improvements would add a new life-span of around 60 to 70 years.
NHS Property Services has already awarded £231,000 contract to a Richmond firm to undertake the roof replacement.
Acomb Construction Limited has been commissioned to carry out the work, which is expected to run until December this year.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on planning permission for the proposal at a later date.
