Tom Gordon has said that he has been “unanimously reselected” by local Liberal Democrats as the party’s parliamentary candidate for Harrogate and Knaresborough at the next general election.

Mr Gordon defeated Conservative Andrew Jones, who had held the seat for 14 years, at the 2024 election.

The next election is due to be held no later than August 15, 2029.

In a press release today, Mr Gordon said it was “a huge honour and privilege” to be reselected and set his sights on party success at next year’s North Yorkshire Council elections.

He said:

We’ve built real momentum since the general election, and we are not slowing down. Next year, we want to make Harrogate and Knaresborough a Conservative-free zone.

Residents deserve hardworking local champions focused on our community, and that is exactly what Liberal Democrats are delivering.
