It’s the early May Bank Holiday and the weather is perfect for a walk.
Whether it is with friends or family, the Stray Ferret has compiled a list of five easy walks you can do in North Yorkshire.
Each trail comes with scenery which is perfect for the bank holiday sunshine and all can be as long or as short as you want them to be.
So, if you’re taking your first trip out for a stroll or are a regular when it comes to a weekend walk, here are some ideas for your next trip out.

Brimham Rocks.
What is the walk like?
If you’re from the Harrogate area, you may already know this walk pretty well.
Complemented by fantastic rock formations and scenery, Brimham Rocks is perfect for a short, easy wander this Bank Holiday.
The National Trust site includes a 1.3 mile circular walk, which captures the rock formations and scenery. The trail takes around one hour to complete.
How do I get there?
Brimham Rocks is an 11 mile drive from Harrogate and includes a pay-and-display car park off Brimham Rocks Road.

What is the walk like?
A quiet, peaceful woodland with wide, gentle forest tracks, Yearsley Woods in the Howardian Hills is another good choice for a walk this weekend.
The circular walk of the woods, which starts from the woods car park, lasts for around 4.1 miles.
Setting out from the car park, you head northeast down the forested hillside, passing a small pond before reaching Lower Fish Pond, where wooden piers let you walk out over the water and take in the scenery.
The trail is perfect for those who enjoy the solitude of a forest and dog owners looking for a good walk.
How do I get there?
The woods is located to the north of the village of Yearsley, which is around 34 miles from Harrogate by car. It includes a car park, which can be accessed off North Moor Lane.

What is the walk like?
Another which some Stray Ferret readers may already be aware of, but still a good choice nonetheless.
The Seven Bridges Valley walk at Fountains Abbey takes in the rustic and beautiful side of the estate and includes a series of arched bridges.
It’s an easy 3.1 mile walk, which is also dog friendly and can be completed in an hour and 30 minutes.
How do I get there?
Fountains Abbey is located four miles west of Ripon on the B6265 and includes car parking.

Ripon City Wetlands
What is the walk like?
If you’re looking for something calm, flat and a spot of bird watching, the trail at Ripon City Wetlands is a good choice.
The trail is easily accessed from the wetlands car park and takes you down to the Riverside Lagoon viewing screen.
It is a short walk which goes on to the canal towpath which leads to the Canal Reedbed Hide. However, no dogs are permitted.
How do I get there?
The wetlands can be found off Boroughbridge Road in the city. It includes a car park, which is open 9am to 5pm. Parking is free for members of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, which operate the site. Non-members can make a donation.

What is the walk like?
If you fancy wandering further afield, a walk Thorp Perrow Arboretum offers a relaxed bank holiday outing.
You are provided a map on arrival at the arboretum, which includes a range of trails around the garden. However, you can choose your own way.
The walk is a peaceful, scenic wander with zero steep sections and offers a view of the gardens.
How do I get there?
The arboretum is a 35 mile drive up the A1(M) from Harrogate. Drivers should use junction 51 at Leeming Bar.
