Watch a unique and immersive theatre experience

Harrogate Theatre is inviting children aged five above with learning disabilities to immerse themselves in this weekend's production of Drift. 

The interactive perfromance allows the audience to take control of player one and two after they are dragged inside an arcade machine.

Attend a night at the opera in Ripon

Enjoy the emphatic opening to Ripon's International Festival conducted by the festival's co-founder and artistic director, Janusz Piotrowicz. 

Taking place this Saturday at 7.30pm, at Ripon Cathedral, the concert marks the start of the 28th year of the festival. 

The performance will include the works of composers from the Romantic era including Richard Wagner's Overture Tannhäuser, Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suites 1 and 2, and Antonín Dvořák's Symphony number nine 'From the New World'. 

This will be the first of several performances happening throughout September and the beginning of October.

Harrogate and Ripon Beekeepers Association

Become a beekeeper for a day

The Harrogate and Ripon Beekeepers Association is running taster sessions at RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31. 

Visitors can learn the basics of beekeeping, the crucial ways bees contribute to the eco-system and how to protect and care for them.

Witness the pinnacle of women's rugby in York

If you want to go a bit further out, it's well worth it this weekend. Go and watch the Women's Rugby World Cup in York. 

Australia take on USA in the second round of group stage matches on August 30, two teams who had very different results in their first matches. 

Australia will be hoping to follow up from their 73-0 win against Samoa to almost guarantee them a place in the knockouts. 

USA will be looking to pick up their first points of the tournament following a 69-7 defeat to hosts England.

Judge scarecrows at Minskip Scarecrow festival

The annual Minskip Scarecrow Festival is back. 

The festival is back for its sixth year, with funds going towards Minskip St John's Church. 

The theme for this year is pop stars, with the competition being judged on Sunday by Radio York presenter Elly Fiorentini. 

There is a new "People's Choice" award, which costs £1 per vote, and is open to everyone. 

After wandering round the village of Minskip and admiring everyone's efforts, there will be refreshments and stalls in the church garden, with a barbeque, Pimm's bar and tombola on Sunday.
