Just Makers in Ripley is holding a Stone Carving Taster Workshop on Friday.
Suitable for all levels, it’s an opportunity to hand-carve a 2D image of your own choosing into stone using traditional tools and methods.
Hosted by seasoned local stone mason Alex Macey, he will help attendees master the fundamental masonry skills, as well as refine their technique.

Hopewell Studios in Knaresborough is hosting a four-week oil painting course.
Artist and former teacher Andrew Stratford will guide everyone through a variety of techniques for painting in oils.
Suitable for beginners to those wishing to explore a new painting medium, each week there will be new things to learn, and methods to develop and enhance oil painting skills.
Coursegoers will gain knowledge of materials and tools, colour theory and mixing, as well as techniques such as brushwork, the use of palette knives, glazing, and impasto.
Materials will be provided, but for those who have their own, they can bring them if they’d prefer.

Choose your own botanicals then learn the art of distillation – you will be allocated one of the 12 copper alembic stills for your own personal use – then take your very own 70cl bottle home with you.
