Celebrate the year’s floral splendour

Join thousands of expected visitors at the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show this weekend at Newby Hall, Ripon, to browse and get inspired by displays of beautiful flowers and spectacular produce.

Staged by the North of England Horticultural Society (NEHS), the show will feature the National Dahlia and Chrysanthemum Northern Championships as well as the popular giant fruit and veg competitions.

There’ll also be live talks, demos and gardening advice from the experts.

Tickets are £28 each and include access to the estate’s gardens, 9.30am-5pm each day, September 19-21, Newby Hall, Ripon, HG4 5AE.

Laugh out loud at a comedy show

Comedian Ria Lina will be performing her stand-up show this Friday night at Fraser Theatre in Knaresborough.

The actress and writer is known for her sharp wit and intelligent humour in the stand-up comedy scene and has been in renowned shows such as Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo and Have I Got News for You.

With a background in both science and the arts – holding degrees in virology and forensic science – she brings a unique perspective to her comedy, often blending social commentary with observational humour.

Tickets are £16 each, doors at 7pm, the show starts at 7.30pm, September 19, Fraser Theatre, Park Crescent, Knaresborough, HG5 0EQ.

You can bring along your pooch too, as dogs are also welcome. And there's also food and refreshments to buy onsite so that you can make a day of it.

Tickets are £15 per person on Friday and £10 per person on Saturday and Sunday. Free for accompanied under 16-year-olds. 12 noon-5pm Friday, 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday, 19-21 September, Ripley Castle, Ripley, HG3 3AY.

Watch a comedy drama

Part of its drama season this September, Bedroom Farce is on every evening this week until Saturday evening, and also has a Saturday matinee performance.

The gleeful comedy is set in three bedrooms, where four couples struggle hilariously with the ups and downs of their rocky relationships.

With its charm, chaos, physical comedy and Ayckbourn’s trademark razor-sharp dialogue, the production presented by Phil and Ben Productions should leave you smiling long after the curtain falls.

Tickets from £19, 7.30pm 16-20 September and a matinee performance at 2.30pm on September 20, 6 Oxford Street, Harrogate, HG1 1QF.
