Seventy-three sheep have been stolen from land in Nidderdale.
North Yorkshire Police has issued an appeal after the Swaledale Mule breed were taken from remote land to the north east of the village of Lofthouse.
The force said the incident happened between May 16 and May 19.
In a statement, officers said evidence from the scene suggests the sheep were taken rather than “escaping or going missing”.
Police added:
We’re particularly appealing for information about the current whereabouts of these sheep and any information about suspicion people, vehicles and activity in the area that may have been involved in their disappearance.
Please email david.mackay@northyorkshire.police.uk if you have any information that could help our investigation.
Alternatively, you can call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for PC1452 David Mackay, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
