Budding ghosthunters could be in for a creepy time at two of Ripon’s most historic venues this month.
Cheshire-based Blackgate Paranormal is offering what it calls a “fabulous night of paranormalness”, with a “double whammy” of spook-spotting at the city’s Workhouse Museum and the Prison and Police Museum.
Blackgate runs similar experiences at venues from Wales and the Midlands to Lancashire and West Yorkshire, and has added the Ripon sites to its roster due to their well-established paranormal credentials.
The Workhouse Museum is located in the original Ripon Union Workhouse, and a workhouse has stood on the site since 1776.
According to Blackgate Paranormal’s website, visitors to the museum often report a general feeling of unease, and a sense of being observed. Unexplained noises have been heard, doors have closed on their own, shadows have been seen moving along corridors, and ghostly figures have been seen, particularly in the children's schoolroom.
The paranormal evening will be held on Saturday, April 18, and places can still be secured with a small deposit.
