Fire crews from Knaresborough and York were helped by swift water crew from Ripon and Malton this morning to rescue an angler from the River Nidd.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said that the person had been fishing on the river at Skipbridge on the A59, near Kirk Hammerton, when the river bank gave way and they fell into the river.
An incident report said:
Crews used a triple extension ladder and crew power to rescue the person, who was uninjured, and they were left in the care of the ambulance for precautionary checks.
River banks are typically more susceptible to erosion and collapse following prolonged or heavy rain.
