Bench deliberately set on fire in Harrogate
Firefighters believe a bench was deliberately set alight in Harrogate last night (June 10).
A crew from Harrogate was called to a report of a smouldering bench on Valley Drive at 8.47pm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report said:
The crew used a hose reel jet to dampen the bench and extinguish the embers. The cause of ignition is believed to have been deliberate.
Harrogate firefighters were summoned again in the early hours of this morning.
This time, they were responding to a report of a power line causing tree branches to smoulder on Thistle Hill, Knaresborough, at 1.45am.
Electrical distribution company Northern Powergrid was asked to remedy the situation.
