The number of missed bin collections in the Harrogate district has declined massively, according to council figures.
North Yorkshire Council says there were just 255 missed bin collections in the district during the third quarter of the financial year, which includes October, November and December..
This compares with 1,096 in the second quarter, which includes July, August and September.
The figures, which represent a 77% decline in missed collections, are contained in the council’s quarter three performance report, which you can read here.
The report says:
The reduction in missed bins is due to the implementation of several service improvements; these include improved performance management of staff and crews and an improved culture and environment.
But the report warns: “Performance is likely to drop in quarter four due to the challenging weather conditions at the start of the year.”
Most of the district was covered by snow and ice for more than a week in early January.
The council plans to spend £8 million on introducing a new bin system, as we reported here.
