The six candidates for Harrogate and Knaresborough

With the 2024 general election approaching, Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce is hosting a business-focused hustings tonight.

The hustings will be moderated by the editor of the Stray Ferret, John Plummer.

All six candidates for Harrogate and Knaresborough have confirmed their attendance. Any questions should be submitted in writing prior to the meeting.

The event starts at 5.30pm for informal networking and complimentary refreshments. The meeting commences at 6.15pm and finishes by 8pm. To book a ticket, visit Eventbrite.

HACS Group sponsors Harrogate Music Festival

Harrogate International Festivals has announced that HACS Group has become the sponsor of Harrogate Music Festival.

The local building and construction services contractor is the first sponsor of the music festival.

Sharon Canavar, chief executive of Harrogate International Festivals, said:

Arts sponsorship is vital to our work as a charity and we are thrilled that HACS have come on board with their support, and we look forward to building our Festival together in the future.

Mark Smith, founder and managing director of HACS, said:

The festivals team does an incredible job bringing world class music and culture to Harrogate and that is why we are delighted to become Harrogate Music Festival’s title sponsor.

This year’s festival runs from June 8 to July 13.

Harlow Tennis Club upgrades lighting

Harlow Tennis Club on Plantation Road is converting its existing floodlights to LED lamps to improve illumination and have more energy-efficient lighting.

The project is being implemented by Harrogate firm Energy Oasis.

The tennis club, which has four courts and over 300 members, has a junior section as well as men's, women's and mixed teams in local leagues. 

Phase 4 Computers announced as finalists in Tech Awards 

Phase 4 Computers has been listed as a Finalist in the Tech Awards 2024 by Tech for Techs.

The company has been shortlisted as finalists for 3 awards in the following categories:

  • Finalist Tech For Techs community expert - Richard Towers-Forth
  • Finalist Best Tech Website 
  • Best Shop Front

The awards ceremony is set to take place on June 21 at the Tech MAX 2024 Trade Event, which will take place at the Magna near Sheffield.
