Transdev’s multi-million-pound investment in electric technology has secured a national award.
Routeone Awards recognise operators and individuals who have driven innovation and success.
At a ceremony in Birmingham, Transdev, which owns the Harrogate Bus Company, was presented with the Environment Award.
Parent firm Transdev Blazefield’s managing director Henri Rohard said:
I am delighted and very proud of our team – winning this award is a significant moment, especially at a time when the transition to electric buses is so important for our industry.
This new generation of buses and charging systems has taken us three years to develop, following a successful application for £11 million through ZEBRA, the Government’s Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas fund. We are also very grateful for the support of our two exceptional partners, North Yorkshire Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, in securing joint funding for these exciting projects.

Local insurance broker Howden Harrogate has opened its North Pole Mail Service, so that children can send a letter to Santa this Christmas and even get a personalised response back.
Families can visit the local branch to collect a specially designed postcard to write to Santa, share their Christmas present wishes, and then post it in our ‘North Pole mailbox’.
Chris Bishop, branch manager at Howden Harrogate said:
Our aim is to not just help children connect with Santa, but also help parents create those magical moments that make Christmas so special. We know how busy the festive season can get, so our Santa letter service is designed to take some of the pressure off, giving families a chance to focus on making cherished memories together.
Howden’s letter initiative to Santa is free to take part in.
To get involved, visit a Howden branch to pick up a postcard. Get your child to write their letter to Santa and post it in the ‘North Pole mailbox’ in branch.
Then, visit the Howden website to get your downloadable template letter from Santa, which you can print off at home, put in an envelope and pop it through your letterbox. Simply add in your child’s name and in the second paragraph, add the present they included in their letter to Santa.
