Adventurers and film lovers should get ready for two nights of adrenaline-packed cinema in Harrogate's Royal Hall.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival, which is touring the UK and Ireland in spring and autumn 2026, features two new collections of short, inspirational films from across the globe.

Nell Teasdale, UK and Ireland tour director, said:

The Banff Mountain Film Festival showcases the year’s most inspiring stories of adventure, with cutting-edge expeditions, extraordinary human resilience and the enduring magic of wild places.

The films on show, which have been selected from hundreds of entries, include treacherous whitewater kayaking in Gabon, relentless cycling through the Himalayas, and record-breaking ultra-marathon runners in the United States amongst others.

Mr Teasdale added:

Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or simply love great storytelling, this year’s films offer something for everyone.

Each screening will be presented by a compère and will offer a free prize giveaway from the tour’s partners, including brands such as Osprey and RAB.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025, with the UK and Ireland tour returning for its 17th year.

The tour will visit over 50 locations in spring and autumn 2026. The festival will come to Harrogate's Royal Hall for the first time on Wednesday 18 February, and again later in the year on Wednesday 25 November. A different collection will be shown on each date.

There will also be other screenings across Yorkshire at the Barbican in York, Carriageworks in Leeds, the Hebden Bridge Picture House, and the Princess Alexandra Auditorium in Yarm.
