Two fire crews were called to Boroughbridge after several boats caught fire yesterday (August 21).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident log says firefighters from Harrogate and Knaresborough were called to Valuation Lane at 5.16pm. However, the location of the fire has been conflicted online.
The blaze affected four canal boats, two of which sank.
Firefighters secured the boats to prevent them from floating and the flames spreading to other boats.
The incident summary adds fire crews then extinguished the fire using "two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus, a 45 jet, a portable pump and ceiling hooks".
The Stray Ferret has contacted North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for more information, including to ask if the cause of the blaze has been established and to confirm the fire's location.
