Here's our list of some to try this season...
Located just off the marketplace in Knaresborough, Butter&Bean brings together specialty coffee, delicious flavours and a warm, welcoming atmosphere designed for cosy catch‑ups, remote working, and everyday indulgence.
The coffee shop proudly serves Deer Hill – a smooth, flavourful medium roast from award-winning local roastery Darkwoods. Alongside expertly brewed coffee, you’ll find a tempting selection of smoothies, milkshakes, homemade scones, soups, and freshly made toasties. Breads and pastries are sourced locally from Manna Bakery and Baltzersens, ensuring deliciousness in every bite.

Bean & Bud is Harrogate's first specialty coffee and tea shop, established in 2010.
In February 2024, Bean & Bud baristas Erin, Elliott and Jana took over the business with the intention to use their experiences to bring new ideas to the shop.
Their focus has always been to showcase and support small farmers from all around the world. They want to be transparent about the process of getting the product from farm to cup.

This includes Bean & Bud's baristas preparing drinks to a high standard as well as developing close relationships with suppliers. They want people to understand the complexities of the coffee, tea and cocoa industries and achieve this by offering an interesting, ever-changing selection.
The team at Bean & Bud hope people can find something they have never tried before and it piques their interest.
Bean & Bud has an extensive offering of brewing equipment, coffee beans, loose leaf tea & more for people to prepare their own drinks at home. To offer a further understanding it hosts evening events & coffee classes tailored to each individual, so they can expand their knowledge & get the most out of their espresso machine. These make excellent gifts for those who enjoy the considerate practice.
Bean & Bud is located at 14 Commercial Street, Harrogate, HG1 1TY. For more information, visit the website.
Thanks to its daytime brunches, speciality coffee, craft beers and light bites, this morning-to-evening café-bar keeps Harrogate carefully caffeinated and very well fed.
The first cup of the day is the most important and Starling's wake-up brews don't disappoint: Darkwoods' stellar Under Milk Wood forms the basis of all the silky espresso drinks, while single-origin roasts from Origin and Caravan are utilised in V60s and batch brew.

Pair your morning coffee with a classic brunch plate - available until 2.30pm, so a late lie-in is possible - such as stacked American pancakes, a bacon sarnie or avo-topped sourdough. Other treats include Starling stalwart the three-egg slider - eggs benny, florentine and royale on one plate.
As brunch comes to a close, the bar tends to fill with visitors drooling over the pizza and light bites menu and checking out what's cold and on draft. Vegans don't miss out either, thanks to a large selection of plant-based pizzas and pints.
Starling is located at 47 Oxford Street, Harrogate, HG1 1PW. For more information, visit the website.
