Council awards Knaresborough community centre £115,000 contract
North Yorkshire Council has awarded a Knaresborough community centre a £115,816 contract to deliver services for migrant communities.
Chain Lane Community Hub will operate the SWIFT programme on behalf of the authority, which aims to help individuals and families born outside the UK access services fairly, build social connections and re-establish their lives.
The scheme is funded by the National Lottery Communities Fund and will last for three years.
As part of the contract, the hub will hire a development officer to support migrant communities, set up local groups and run cultural events that celebrate diversity. It will also offer tailored advice and guidance to individuals and families.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Council added:
The council will lead the project and manage the budget. In Harrogate and Knaresborough, the programme builds on Chain Lane Hub’s successful work with Ukrainian guests and their strong connections in the community.
