North Yorkshire Council has implemented moves to restrict the use of a road in Grantley amid concern that it is “unsuitable" for traffic.
According to a traffic regulation order published on the authority’s website, motorists will be prohibited from using the entirety of the road between Grantley and Low Grantley.
The order would ban cars and other vehicles on the road, unless they were being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes.
The road, which is pictured below, connects the village of Grantley with Low Grantley.

According to council documents, the order has been put in place to reduce the number of cars on the road.
It says:
North Yorkshire Council considers that it is expedient to make this Traffic Regulation Order on grounds (a) (c) (d) and (f) above, having taken into account its duty under Section 122(1) of the 1984 Act, for the following reasons.
To reduce the number of vehicles travelling between Grantley and Low Grantley on an unsuitable route.
The proposed order will be available to view at County Hall, Northallerton, and at Ripon Library until March 19.
