Partnerships are being created in Boroughbridge and Knaresborough to target underage drinking and anti-social behaviour.
Community alcohol partnerships (CAPs) are made up of partnerships between local authorities, police, schools, retailers, neighbourhood groups and health providers.
These organisations work together to tackle alcohol-related harm to young people and reduce anti-social behaviour.
The partnerships work with local schools to teach alcohol education, to ensure young people are equipped to make the right decisions about issues including drugs, anti-social and criminal behaviour.
They also work with local retailers to help them avoid making underage sales and reduce ‘proxy’ sales where adults buy alcohol for under-18s.
The national Community Alcohol Partnerships 2023 annual report said:

The district saw a partnership launched in Ripon in 2022 to tackle regular cases of underage drinking, reported at the time by The Stray Ferret.
