Dacre Village Store in Dacre Banks has been recognised for its outstanding commitment to the community at a national awards event.
National Lottery operator Allwyn organised the Local Retail Champions awards to celebrate National Lottery retailers who go above and beyond for their communities.
Two national winners, 16 regional winners, and two innovation award winners were named at the Hilton London Syon Park.
Dacre Village Store, owned by Laura and Andrew Binns, collected the regional award for Yorkshire and a £5,000 prize for its community-focused work.
The couple regularly support local charity fundraising, including efforts for the children’s football team and the village hall. Each year they help to run a jumble sale and have donation pots with all proceeds going back into the community.

They also deliver shopping to older customers who can’t get to the store, raise funds to re-fit a community playground and organise a free back-to-school fun day.
Ms Binns said:
We are really honoured to have been nominated by customers for this, for such a small shop in rural Nidderdale to bring home a trophy to our village community is a massive achievement.
Alison Acquaye-Acford, Allwyn’s director of commercial partnerships and retail sales, said:
“Congratulations to our Yorkshire winners. This initiative shines a spotlight on the incredible role National Lottery retailers play in their communities. Laura and Andrew embody the values that make local shops so vital to their local areas.
Barry’s Local & Post Office in Chatham, Kent, and Halai General Store (Best One) in Bermondsey, London, were named national winners and received £15,000 each.
