Knaresborough Young Farmers' Christmas tree collection last year.

Farmers are preparing for their annual Christmas tree collections in the Harrogate district.

Knaresborough Young Farmers is requesting a minimum donation of £5 to take away trees on Saturday, January 4 and Sunday, January 5.

On Saturday, they will remove trees that are left outside homes in Harrogate, Pannal and Starbeck.

On Sunday, they will collect trees from Knaresborough and surrounding villages Farnham, Ferrensby, Follifoot, Goldsborough, Kirk Deighton, Lingerfield, Little Ribston, North Deighton, Scotton and Spofforth.

Funds raised will go to Saint Michael’s Hospice and the British Heart Foundation.

Anyone interested should email yfcknaresborough@gmail.com after which they will be sent a form to fill in.

On the day of collection, trees must be left outside and easily seen from the street by 9am. This could be on the front lawn, driveway or pavement.

A spokesperson for Knaresborough Young Farmers said:

This is our third year doing it. Last year we collected around 500 trees and we hope to improve on that number this year.
