BBC news presenter Clare Frisby with 2025's Stray Ferret Business of the Year, Live for Today.

Companies that excel in their field and set the standard for their industry are being urged to enter the Stray Ferret Business Awards 2026.

The highest accolade of the awards is Business of the Year, and to qualify entrants should be companies leading the way in strategy, growth, community involvement and people development.

Business of the Year, which is sponsored by S&W – a national accountancy firm with offices in Harrogate – is one of 10 categories in the awards.

Stuart Wright, partner at S&W, said:

We’re proud to be sponsoring the Business of the Year category at the Stray Ferret Business Awards. At S&W, we believe that strong, resilient, and forward-thinking businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and this category is a great way to celebrate those making a real impact.

We’ll be looking for entrants who demonstrate not only commercial success, but also innovation, leadership, and a commitment to their people and community. It’s about recognising businesses that are setting the standard and inspiring others.

We’d encourage any business that’s proud of what they’ve achieved to enter. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your story, gain recognition, and connect with others who are driving progress in the Harrogate district.

The Stray Ferret Business Awards, which are once again sponsored by Harrogate-based financial adviser Prosperis, recognise the brightest and best of the region’s business talent across all sectors.

They are open to entrants from across the Harrogate district, including Boroughbridge, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Masham, Nidderdale, Ripon and the surrounding areas.

To enter Business of the Year or any of the other categories, go to the Stray Ferret Business Awards page of our website here. It's quick, easy and free of charge.

The winners will be announced to 350 guests at a superb black-tie event in the Pavilions of Harrogate on March 26.
