Volunteer rescuers helped a dog who got stuck in a five-meter-deep hole near Pateley Bridge.
Yesterday (August 18) Bailey, a 10-year-old labradoodle had been walking off lead on the top of Guisecliffe.
Bailey had been exploring the undergrowth when he fell into a steep sided hole.
The dog began the descent into the hole and having reached the bottom found he was unable to climb out.
A team from Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association attended and were able to put Bailey into a dog rescue bag.
In a post on social media, the association said:
The team quickly packed their kit and made their way to the scene to meet with the NYFRS crew and other UWFRA team members who had brought our animal rescue kit from Grassington.
Bailey's owners made the wise decision to seek assistance given they may also have become stuck. On arrival, the fire service team handed over to the team and one of our team members was lowered into the opening.
Fortunately, Bailey was none the worse for wear for his antics and after being fed some dog treats and some water to rehydrate he was placed in a dog rescue bag and extracted to safety where he was reacquainted with his owners.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service updated their incident summary and said:
