Traces of mud were still visible this morning on sections of the A61

A double decker bus driver last night warned fellow motorists of the danger of driving on a muddy section of the A61 near Ripon.

The warning, posted on social media, came two days after Ripon taxi driver Richard Fieldman described the same stretch of road as being 'an accident waiting to happen, especially for motorbikes.'

In last night's anonymous post, the bus driver,  who had been working on the 36 route operated by Transdev, voiced concerns, when they said:

I’ve just driven into Ripon and then back (and) the bus lost traction while slowing down on the bend just outside Ripon heading towards Ripley.

For a vehicle as heavy as a bus, especially with the weight of the engine bearing down, losing traction like that shows how dangerous the road conditions are.

I’m genuinely concerned that if a bus can lose control in these conditions, it would be even easier for a car to do so, especially for an inexperienced driver who may not know how to handle such a situation.

In the online post, the driver asked if anyone knew who could help get the road cleaned of all the mud and pointed out, that they were not attempting to 'spark anger' or become involved in a 'blame game.'

They added:

It’s simply to raise awareness and hopefully get the road cleaned to prevent potential accidents.
