Double yellow lines are set to be installed at a Ripon road junction where parked vehicles pose potential danger to pedestrians.
The junction of Bondgate Green and King Street is close to the main entrance of Millfield Play Area.
Councillor Andrew Williams, who represents the Minster and Moorside division on North Yorkshire Council, told the Stray Ferret:
Parking at this location blocks sight lines and poses a danger, particularly for families with children crossing the road when going to and from the playground.
I've had a lot of people contacting me to express their concerns and that prompted me to raise the matter with North Yorkshire Council's traffic engineers, who agreed that action is needed.

Cllr Williams added:
I appreciate that the introduction of double yellow lines may lead those who currently park at the junction to look for spaces on nearby streets.
With this in mind, I will see if we can introduce resident parking permits for people living in Wellington Street and other streets that may be impacted.
