Firefighters have cordoned off a street close to Harrogate town centre due to an ongoing incident.
Both Harrogate crews were called to Haywra Street at 4.47pm.
According to a statement by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, they were “mobilised to the sight of smoke coming from the basement of residential flats”.
The statement added:
“This incident is still ongoing and crews are investigating the smell of burning in a basement void with a thermal imaging camera.”
There was no sign of fire when the Stray Ferret visited the scene at about 5.45pm.
However, a person on a stretcher was being treated by paramedics nearby.
We will update this article when more details are available.
