Firefighters responded to reports of a sauna fire yesterday (Sunday, January 19).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident log said crews from Harrogate and Ripon were called to a property in Markington at 8.52am.
The occupants reported that their sauna was on fire, the log said. It added the fire caused "extensive damage" to the timber clad outbuilding and a rest area, which measured around five metres by eight metres.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and firefighters used two hose reel jets, breathing apparatus, a triple extension ladder and lighting to extinguish it.
A spokesperson for the fire service told the Stray Ferret they believe the sauna was an outbuilding at a holiday cottage.
No further details have been released.
