Five men are due to appear in court today (November 5) after two vehicles were stolen near Harrogate yesterday morning.
North Yorkshire Police today said officers were called at 4.40am after the vehicles were stolen from a commercial premises in the Harrogate area.
Officers soon located one of the vehicles – a large lorry – which was travelling in convoy with a car along the A59 towards Skipton.
They followed the vehicles and one of the police drivers “got in position between the lorry and the car” while another officer drove behind the car.
Police added the lorry was eventually brought to a stop in Addingham, but the suspect ran off.
He was quickly tracked down by a police dog named Rhun and arrested.

Today’s statement also said the car was intercepted and stopped by more officers. The three men inside were all arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
A fifth man was arrested later that day after residents “became suspicious of a man trying to get a lift out of the area”.
Police said:
All five suspects, who are from the Leeds area and aged between 30 and 47, have been charged with two counts of vehicle theft and one of burglary.
The occupant and driver of the lorry was also charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
The suspects were all remanded in custody and are due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court today.
Both vehicles were recovered.
