A plan has been submitted to convert a former Kirkby Overblow pub into a community facility.
The Star and Garter closed its doors in 2018 and has been disused ever since.
Now, proposals have been lodged to North Yorkshire Council to convert the former public house on Follifoot Lane.
Kirkby Overblow Community Hub is seeking permission to change the building into a village facility with the potential for bedrooms to be let out.
The charity was set up with the aim of purchasing the former Star and Garter pub to “protect the site for future generations”.
According to its website, the organistion wants to repair and renovate the building and provide a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor areas for use for a coffee shop, village heritage and exhibition space for arts & crafts.
It adds:
The Star and Garter dates back to the 1800s as a coaching house and has been used as a public house until 2018 when it was closed down.
Its location is at the heart of the village and in the centre of the Lower Wharfedale Valley. It has become run down, dilapidated and will continue to deteriorate as the months go by.
The opportunity has arisen to purchase the site and for it to be repurposed as a community asset for all residents and visitors to make use of and enjoy.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the proposal at a later date.
