A former pop-up bar is set to open permanently in Harrogate this week.

Paradise Harrogate will bring a range of cask ales, cocktails, wines and Mexican-inspired street food to the town.

The owners, who previously had pop-up residencies called Paradise Tap & Taco at Cold Bath Brewing Co. and Rooster’s Taproom, said they hope to bring an “inclusive, informal and comfortable environment” through their newest venture.

Ellie and Josh Molloy initially opened the bar, which is located at the rear of Oxford Street, this month but then closed for refurbishment on January 8. It is now preparing to open permanently on Friday, January 19.

The couple said they have transformed what was a “derelict storage unit” into a two-floor bar. They added:

“Paradise’s new permanent residence comprises of three rooms of seating over two floors, featuring cosy sofas, an open kitchen and a pool table.”

They founded the brand in 2020 but have 12 years of bar management experience combined.

Ellie said:

“We’ve created the bar that we ourselves would want to visit as customers.
“We’ve taken little bits of inspiration from all the places we love and combined them into our own Paradise.
“We think it's so important that it’s approachable and welcoming, a place where you feel at home whether you’re out with friends for drinks or with the family for tea.”

The new bar will serve burritos, tacos, quesadillas and fries, as the couple hope to offer a “fresh, affordable and alternative to Harrogate’s restaurants, cafés and takeaways”.

Josh added:

“Harrogate is blessed with so many brilliant restaurants, but often as customers we’ve found that’s not what we’d like on that occasion.
“We hope Paradise can offer something much less formal, more casual, more relaxed.
"We’re not offering table service, or telling people where to sit, or even offering cutlery.
“We're doing our absolute best to offer value for money in the face of the cost of living crisis and we must have bought every second-hand sofa in a 10-mile radius!”

Paradise Harrogate can be accessed by the road joining Cheltenham Crescent and Union Street.

It will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 4pm, and Friday to Sunday from midday.
