    Shop windows in Harrogate have been illuminated for the festive season as part of the annual Christmas shop window competition.

    The competition, organised by Harrogate Business Improvement District and Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce, brings a festive feeling to the town centre and offers businesses the chance to show off their creative shop fronts.

    The judges look for three elements - illumination, innovation and the spirit of Christmas. They will announce the winners next week.

    Last year, The Yorkshire Soap Company took home the overall crown, and this year there are over 30 entrants.

    The Stray Ferret has been out to admire the Christmas displays across the town.
