The Shrove Tuesday tradition of holding pancake races in Ripon, saw cathedral clergy and children from city schools on the run this morning.
With pans, pancakes and stewarding provided by members of the Rotary Club of Ripon Rowels, the uphill course along Kirkgate provided competitors with a stiff test of hand and eye coordination, combined with the need to run as fast as possible.
Before the races started, primary school pupils from Cathedral, Holy Trinity, Moorside and St Wilfrid's, were greeted on the cathedral forecourt by the Dean of Ripon, the Very Revd John Dobson.
