More than 1,000 people of all ages, paid their respects to the dead of two world wars and other conflicts at Remembrance events held in Ripon this morning.
A list of almost 400 names of local people who made the ultimate sacrifice, was read out by Andrew Cowie, president of the Ripon branch of the Royal British Legion, as civic dignitaries and many more representatives of groups and oganisations in the city, laid wreaths at the War Memorial in Spa Gardens.
A two-minute silence was observed after Linda Graham, a cornet player with Ripon City Band, played the last post.
Royal Engineers stood guard at the war memorial, as representatives of all the armed forces held standards high

Ripon's Army and Air Cadets, were also out in force.
More than 200 members of 21 Engineer Regiment the Royal Engineers, took part in a march past. Here they are gathered in Park Street
Led by Ripon City Band, the march took the engineers past the town hall, where a salute was taken by the the mayor.
