Hundreds of people celebrated Bright Friday in Knaresborough on November 29.
The annual event established by Knaresborough Town Council in 2016 is regarded as the antidote to the excessive consumerism of Black Friday, which takes place on the same day each year.
It is all about celebrating community, local businesses and the true spirit of Christmas.
The night started with a lantern parade from the war memorial in the castle grounds to Market Place.
Father Christmas then arrived to officially switch-on the Christmas tree lights in the packed Market Place. Carols followed, before the rain arrived.
