Police have issued an appeal after a Ripon garden has been targeted by graffiti vandals.

North Yorkshire Police said the wall of the Workhouse Museum in Temple Gardens off Allhallowgate was targeted on the evening of Sunday (March 2) and Wednesday (March 5).

The force has appealed to the public to get in touch if they recognised the tags or have any further information on the incident.

A force statement said:

This area is sacred ground and was redeveloped to provide a pleasant and safe location in the town centre for a rest and to enjoy.

We are currently seeking advice on whether this is a listed building to know how best to remove it and at what expense.

If you recognise the tags or have any information at all please call 101 reference 12250039837.

Police added that no arrests in relation to incident have been made at this time.
