Luxury hotel Grantley Hall has appointed Andy Lynam as head chef of its pan-Asian bar and restaurant EightyEight.
The 47-bedroom hotel near Ripon has five restaurants, including Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, and three bars.
Samira Effa, who appeared on the BBC programme Great British Menu, became head chef at EightyEight in June 2022.
Grantley Hall announced today Mr Lynam had taken up the position this month and Ms Effa had left.
He joined the Grantley Hall culinary team in 2024 as sous chef and established himself in the EightyEight kitchen.
The press release announcing his elevation to head chef said he “brings a refined, modern approach to ingredient-led cooking”.
Mr Lynam has worked at venues including The Box Tree in Ilkley, The Wild Rabbit in the Cotswolds, and The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey.
He said:
EightyEight is such a special place to cook – it’s a space that allows for playfulness and creativity while respecting quality and provenance. I’m honoured to take on this new role and am looking forward to leading our talented team as we craft a new seasonal menu that showcases the best of what we do.
