A wash of pink is creeping across Knaresborough, which can only mean one thing: the return of Feva.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Knaresborough Feva – the town’s 10-day festival dedicated to all things arts – will kick off on Friday (August 8).
People can look forward to a range of events during Feva’s silver jubilee, including live entertainment and performances, art exhibitions and workshops, a silent disco and the much-loved Knaresborough Lions' Beer Festival.
With so much to see, the Stray Ferret has put together a list of some of the events to can look forward to during Feva.
Feva’s opening ceremony is scheduled for midday on August 8, which will be held at the Market Cross.
Artist Paul Mirfin will host an oil painting demonstration at 4pm at the Track and Sleeper, followed by a family-friendly silent disco at The Kiosk at Conyngham Hall.
An adults-only silent disco will take place at 7pm, and saxophonist Snake Davis will perform a solo at Holy Trinity Church at 7.30pm.
The second day of Feva will be kickstarted by a special Conyngham Hall parkrun, called Musical Marshall, at 9am.
Two performances of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing will be held at The Kiosk at Conyngham Hall on Saturday.
The first, as part of the young people’s Arts Award Discover in a Day programme, will start at 10.30am. The second, put on by production company The Handlebars, will begin at 6pm.
A recital commemorating the death of English composer, Sir Arthur Bliss, will be held at St John’s Church at 7.30pm.
Into the Mystic, a young rock band from Bradford, will take centre stage at Park Place Social Club at 8pm.
Feva’s Sunday service at St John’s Church will begin at 10.30am, followed by performances of The Knaresborough Eleven – a play inspired by the real events of the Castle Riots – at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm.
The play will be performed at Knaresborough Castle.
The Town Criers will go head-to-head in a crying competition at 2pm at Market Cross, and the day will come to a close with an open mic night at The Hart from 8pm.

Yorkshire CREATE will host a musical theatre workshop at CREATE studios from 10am.
Mark Wells, author of The Cambridge Gothic series, will host a talk about his novels at CREATE studios at 7pm, and Studio 3 presents Dance Feva will begin at 7.15pm at the Frazer Theatre.
Monday will be culminated by a performance from the Ebor Quarter at St John’s Church at 7.30pm.
Following mosaic and sock puppet workshops throughout the day on Tuesday, author and historian Lucy Adlington discusses her new book, Unravelled: The Story of Four Red Sweaters at the Frazer Theatre at 7.30pm.
Knaresborough Forest Family Fun Day will be held The Kiosk at Conyngham Hall between 10am and 4pm. It will be a day of forest-themed activities, with a tree trail and arts and crafts.
A guided walk from Knaresborough Castle to Kingfisher Kiosk at Conyngham Hall will start at 10.30am, followed by the mayor of Knaresborough’s town tour at 11am.
Knaresborough Forest Day at Knaresborough Forest Park will begin at midday. The event, which ends at 6pm, will celebrate the land recently returning to public ownership.
Studio 3 Dance Workshop presents Sing a Song of Sixpence will be held at 2pm at Knaresborough Castle, whilst Knaresborough Knightmares: a Feva Ghost Walk will start at 7pm at the Market Cross.
Status Faux will bring the day to a close with a performance at Knaresborough Working Men’s Club at 7.30pm.
Medusa Gothic Morris dancers will also return this year.
Orb Fest, which will include an afternoon of live performances, visual art and films, will be held at Orb Community Arts from midday until 5pm.
The Royal British Legion Quiz will kick off at Knaresborough Working Men’s Club at 7pm, followed by History Wardrobe presents Halfway to Hollywood at the Frazer Threatre at 7.30pm.
A roller disco will be held at The Kiosk at Congyngham Hall at 4.30pm, before the much-loved Knaresborough Lions’ Beer Festival begins at Knaresborough House at 5pm. The beer festival will also run from midday until 9pm on August 16, and midday until 3pm on August 17.
Over at Holy Trinity Church, An Evening with Roger McGough: Alive and Giggling will start at 7.30pm.
Acoustic singer Jon Matthews will close the day with a performance at The Orange Groves at 9pm.
On the penultimate day of Feva, Picnic in the Park will begin at midday at Knaresborough House. There will be live performances throughout the afternoon.
The Afghan Kitchen pop-up will be held at Centre on Gracious Street (COGS) from 7pm.
Feva Burlesque will get underway at 7.30pm at the Frazer Theatre, and Cooler Kings will perform at The Cross Keys from 9pm.
Before the curtains close on Feva for another year, The Chorus Crew will perform at High Bridge Gardens at 11am.
Calcutt Gala, at Calcutt Oval, will kick off at midday, followed by a performance from Spa Sax at High Bridge Gardens at 4.30pm.
A performance of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice will get underway at 6pm at The Kiosk at Congynham Hall, and an open mic night at The Hart will bring the festival to a close at 8pm.
