A Hampsthwaite pupil has been chosen to have her art displayed at the Royal Academy of Art in London.

Six-year-old Bonnie Radcliffe was one of 510 pupils selected from more than 20,000 for the online and in-person exhibition.

It came about after students at Hampsthwaite C of E Primary School took part in the Royal Academy's summer arts competition.

Other students' entries, some inspired by the school's values, were showcased to parents and community members in a school exhibition.

Amy Ross, headteacher at Hampsthwaite Primary School, said:

We are so proud of Bonnie for her fantastic achievement. To be part of the final exhibition from more than 20,000 entries nationally is remarkable and a real credit to her creativity and hard work.

Thank you also to Claire Hutchinson, our art subject leader, who enabled the children to take part in the competition.

Well done to all the children from Hampsthwaite primary school who took part in the Royal Academy young artist competition.
