A major Harrogate bar is to get two new karaoke rooms.
Mojo, a cocktail bar on Parliament Street, is in the process of building the rooms, which are expected to be completed by the end of the month.
The project is the latest stage in a programme of extensive work that began in April.
Voodoo Doll Limited, which trades as Mojo, began converting commercial office space on the first floor into a seating area earlier this year.
The extension will add an additional 2,000 sq ft to the bar area and at the time Mojo company director, Martin Greenhow, told the Stray Ferret that the company had “decided to introduce some exciting new features".
Mojo has said the overall additions budget was over £300,000, with the karaoke project representing 25%.
The new karaoke rooms will measure approximately 20 square metres each.
They will accommodate about 18 guests and have seating, TV screens, microphones, stages and Singa software.
Harrogate will be the first Mojo bar to get karaoke rooms.
The company was established in 1996 in Leeds and has since opened bars in Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield.
The Harrogate bar opened in 2018 and is now a prominent part of the town’s night scene.
The company plans to evaluate its success in the town before considering which other venues might also incorporate karaoke rooms.
A spokesperson for Mojo said:
It will be yet another activity for the local community to enjoy, avoiding the time and expense of trips to York or Leeds, and of course for tourists to add to their visit to Harrogate.
You’ll be able to order food and drinks right from the rooms with our table ordering service. Plus, we’ll have fun accessories like cowboy hats for the Nashville room.
There is no confirmed opening date yet for the karaoke rooms.
