Harrogate Business Improvement District has launched a deep clean service after acquiring new equipment.
The BID, which aims to increase town centre footfall, previously used contractors to provide occasional deep cleans.
But since businesses, which pay a levy to fund the BID, last year voted to support it for another five years the organisation has employed a second street ranger and bought a water bowser which can hold 1,000 litres of water.
The bowser is connected to a heater system that enables it toremove dirt, grime, graffiti and chewing gum from hard surfaces.
It means the street cleaning service has been brought in-house and can be utilised more frequently and across a wider area.
Harrogate BID manager Matthew Chapman said:
First impressions really do count and we want to ensure our streets are presented at their original best to visitors.
As the BID, we’re passionate about keeping our town bright, tidy and attractive as we work hard to not only retain visitors, but to continue to improve Harrogate for its residents. We want pride to shine through in our town.
Bringing the deep cleans in-house will also allow us to utilise the BID levy to its fullest, enabling us to push additional funding into the other services, campaigns and events we offer.

Deep cleans will now be carried out throughout the year on days when both street rangers are on shift together.
They previously took place at Christmas, bank holidays and after major events in Harrogate.
Any businesses looking to request the deep clean service can do so by emailing info@harrogatebid.co.uk.
