The Harrogate Bus Company has launched £1 fares for young people.
One-way fares will now cost £1 on any single journey on the company’s buses across North Yorkshire.
The deal is now in place as part of a partnership with North Yorkshire Council to offer under 19s cut-price travel anytime, anywhere in the county served by its buses.
The aim of the scheme is to make travel more affordable and accessible for young people.
Paul Turner, commercial director at Transdev, which runs Harrogate Bus Company, said:
The new £1 fares apply to any one-way journey on our buses which is wholly within North Yorkshire – for example, Grassington to Skipton, Ripon to Harrogate or Malton to Pickering – and also to journeys between North Yorkshire and the City of York.
Young people can buy their £1 tickets in the usual way from our drivers, using cash or contactless payment. Dedicated school buses aren’t included, but every other route on our networks in North Yorkshire and York itself are part of this scheme.
We hope this low fare will help young people to get out and about by bus this Autumn and enjoy all that North Yorkshire and York have to offer.
