Staff at Homebase in Harrogate face uncertain futures after the company went into administration.
The Plumpton Park DIY store is one of 119 Homebases in the UK and one of five in Yorkshire. The others are at Leeds, Bradford, Selby and Hull.
CDS Superstores, which owns The Range, is buying up to 70 stores as well as the Homebase brand.
That would safeguard 1,600 jobs but leaves 49 stores at risk of closure. Administrator Teneo has not said which ones they are.
Hilco Capital acquired Homebase for £1 in 2018 and has since closed more than 100 stores.
Homebase chief executive Damian McGloughlin said the last three years have been "incredibly challenging" for DIY stores.
The Stray Ferret contacted Homebase in Harrogate to ask about the current situation and how many people worked there.
A spokesperson said it was “open and trading as normal” and directed us to head office for further information.
We have approached the head office for further details.
