Harrogate juror denies sharing research with other jurors during trial
A Harrogate man who sat on a jury during a Crown Court trial has denied sharing research on the defendant with other jurors.
David Whan, 60, appeared at Leeds Crown Court today (July 20) when he pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
It’s alleged that Mr Whan researched information on the defendant which he disclosed to another juror, or jurors, during a trial at York Crown Court in November 2024.
Under the Juries Act, it is illegal to share independent research with other jurors during a trial.
Judge Neil Clark adjourned Mr Whan’s case for a trial on August 26 next year.
Mr Whan, from Bilton in Harrogate, was released on bail until then.
