A man appeared at Harrogate Magistrates Court yesterday (February 21) accused of rape.

Paul Geagan, of Hampsthwaite Road in Harrogate, has been charged with one count of raping a girl aged 13, 14 or 15.

The offence is alleged to have happened between 1999 and 2000.

The case was transferred to York Crown Court, where the 57-year-old will appear on March 31.

Mr Geagan appeared in court but spoke only to confirm his name and address.
