A Harrogate man has been jailed for driving whilst disqualified.
Jack Whitehouse, whose address is listed as Walworth Avenue, was charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.
According to court documents, no pleas were given and the offences were proved in Whitehouse’s absence on June 30.
The 25-year-old defendant drove a Vauxhall Insignia along Ramshead Grove in Leeds on May 17 despite being banned. This also meant Whitehouse did not hold valid insurance.
Whitehouse was sentenced at York Magistrates Court on Tuesday (September 9), when he was jailed for six weeks.
Court documents say the offences were so serious a custodial sentence was justified, adding Whitehouse has a “flagrant disregard” for court orders.
The case was also aggravated by Whitehouse’s criminal record.
He was also banned from driving for four years.
