Two Harrogate district men had their cases heard at York Magistrates Court yesterday (January 21).
You can read reports on both of them below.
Matthew Adamson was sentenced for three offences yesterday.
Adamson, of Woodfield Avenue in Harrogate, was charged with one count of assault by beating, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of failing to surrender to police or court bail.
He pleaded guilty to all charges.
Court documents say Adamson assaulted a named woman by beating her at The Ginnel in Harrogate on April 2 last year.
On the same day, the 37-year-old inflicted actual bodily harm on a named man, also at The Ginnel.
Adamson also failed to surrender to custody at Harrogate Magistrates Court on January 17, having been released on bail by the court on November 28, 2024.
He was sentenced to a total of 32 weeks in prison, suspended for two years.
Court documents say the offences are so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified.
The defendant was also ordered to complete 20 rehabilitation activity days and 80 hours of unpaid work.
He must pay £500 in compensation, a surcharge of £187 and £450 towards prosecution costs.
Steven Bainbridge appeared in court charged with one count of burglary.
Court documents say Bainbridge, of The Shepherdies, Ripon, entered Ripon Rugby Club "as a trespasser" on Christmas Day, 2023.
The 35-year-old then stole four bottles of wine to the value of £20 from the rugby club.
Bainbridge pleaded guilty at yesterday’s hearing, where he was handed a 12-month conditional discharge.
He was also ordered to pay £20 in compensation.
