A Pilates studio on a prominent Harrogate street is set to close.

Ebru Evrim emailed members on Monday (April 13) to reveal it would be closing its James Street studio.

The email, seen by the Stray Ferret, said the move comes after “careful consideration”.

It adds:

Rising premises costs have made it no longer sustainable to continue in our current location, and we feel this is the right moment to evolve.

Memberships were cancelled that day, but the studio said it will continue to offer its “full service” until April 24.

But hope is not lost for local fitness fanatics, as the email also revealed owner Ms Evrim will be launching a new Pilates studio named Evrimotion.

It said:

Ms Evrim will be launching her own Pilates studio under a beautiful new brand, Evrimotion, where she will deliver teacher trainings, workshops and 1-2-1 sessions to bring you the exceptional teaching you know and love.

The Ebru Evrim Academy will continue under Evrimotion at this new location. A new studio is opening in Harrogate, focused on teacher training and connecting our community with the very best instructors with new business model.

The email does not disclose where in Harrogate the new studio will be, but it says existing members will be offered “pay-as-you-go classes” after April 24 while the new studio is being built.

Ebru aims to open Evrimotion at the beginning of May.

The Stray Ferret contacted Ebru Evrim for comment, but we had not received a response at the time of publication.

The news comes amid a rift of changes to James Street.

The Stray Ferret recently revealed womenswear brand Nobody's Child has taken over the former Lucy Pittaway gallery, while Russell & Bromley and LK Bennett are both preparing to close.
